Excel to CSV converter

Pick an Excel .xlsx file and get any of its sheets as clean CSV, ready to copy or download. Multi-sheet workbooks show a sheet picker, and the file never leaves your browser.

Text is processed by your own browser and never leaves your device: this page has no server to send it to.

How it works

The workbook is parsed in your browser and the chosen sheet's cells are written out row by row following the CSV standard: fields with commas, quotes or line breaks are quoted, dates become ISO dates (2026-01-15), and empty cells stay empty. Formulas contribute their last computed value, since .xlsx files store it alongside the formula.

Frequently asked questions

What happens to formulas?

You get the value, not the formula: .xlsx files store each formula's last computed result and that is what exports. Recalculation needs a spreadsheet app.

How are dates exported?

As ISO dates (2026-01-15), the one format every tool parses unambiguously. Locale-formatted dates like 15/1/26 are ambiguous the moment a file crosses a border.

Does it work with .xls (the old format)?

No, only .xlsx. The pre-2007 binary .xls format needs a different parser; open the file in any spreadsheet app and save it as .xlsx first.
