CSV to Excel converter

Paste CSV, comma, semicolon or tab separated, and download it as a real Excel .xlsx file. Cells that look like numbers or true/false become typed cells, and nothing you paste leaves your browser.

Text is processed by your own browser and never leaves your device: this page has no server to send it to.

How it works

The CSV is parsed with the same RFC 4180 parser as our other CSV tools (quoted fields, escaped quotes, delimiter auto-detection) and written as a single-sheet .xlsx workbook. Numeric and boolean values are written as typed cells, so Excel can sum a column immediately instead of complaining about text that looks like numbers.

Frequently asked questions

Why not just open the CSV in Excel directly?

Excel's CSV import guesses the delimiter and the types from your system locale, which mangles Spanish semicolon CSVs and long numbers regularly. Converting to .xlsx pins delimiter and types once, so the file opens identically everywhere.

Are numbers stored as numbers?

Yes. Values that parse as numbers or true/false are written as typed cells. Everything else, including codes with leading zeros, stays text so no data is silently rewritten.

Can it produce more than one sheet?

No, one CSV is one sheet by definition. Convert each CSV separately and combine the sheets in your spreadsheet app if you need a multi-sheet workbook.
