Base64 encode
Type or paste text and get its Base64 encoding as you type. The text is encoded as UTF-8 first, so accents, ñ and emoji survive the round trip, and nothing leaves your browser.
Text is processed by your own browser and never leaves your device: this page has no server to send it to.
How it works
The text is converted to UTF-8 bytes and those bytes are encoded with the standard Base64 alphabet, padding included. That two-step matters: naive implementations break on any character outside ASCII, this one does not.
Frequently asked questions
Does it handle accents and emoji?
Yes. The text becomes UTF-8 bytes before encoding, so any Unicode character round-trips correctly through the matching Base64 decoder.
Is Base64 encryption?
No. Base64 is an encoding, not encryption: anyone can decode it. Use it to move text through systems that expect ASCII, never to hide secrets.
Why does the output end in = signs?
Base64 works in 3-byte groups. When the input length is not a multiple of three, the output is padded with one or two = characters so decoders know where the data ends.
