How it works

The wall-clock time you enter is anchored to an exact instant using the source zone's rules, then that instant is re-read in the target zone. Both steps use the IANA timezone database your browser ships with, so daylight saving is handled on both sides, including the awkward weeks when only one side has switched.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the result sometimes show the previous or next day?

Because the instant is the same but calendars differ: 9 pm in Los Angeles is already the next afternoon in Auckland. The tool flags the day shift so meeting invites land on the right date.

How is daylight saving handled?

Both zones are evaluated at the actual instant of the converted time, using the IANA database rules. In the weeks when one region has switched and the other has not, the difference changes, and the tool reflects it.

What timezone does it assume for me?

Your browser reports your system timezone and the tool preselects it as the source. You can pick any other zone from the list; nothing about your location is sent anywhere.
