URL slug generator
Paste a title and get a URL-ready slug: lowercased, accents removed, punctuation collapsed into single hyphens. Works with Spanish and other accented text, and nothing leaves your browser.
Text is processed by your own browser and never leaves your device: this page has no server to send it to.
How it works
The text is Unicode-normalized so accented letters split into a base letter plus a combining mark, the marks are stripped (á to a, ñ to n), everything is lowercased, and any run of non-alphanumeric characters becomes a single hyphen with leading and trailing hyphens trimmed.
Frequently asked questions
What happens to ñ and accented vowels?
They are transliterated to their base letter: ñ becomes n, á becomes a. That keeps the slug pure ASCII, which every browser, CDN and analytics tool handles identically.
Why hyphens instead of underscores?
Search engines treat a hyphen as a word separator but may read an underscore as joining two words into one. Hyphenated slugs are also easier to read in a link preview.
Is there a length limit I should respect?
No hard one, but slugs beyond roughly 60 characters get truncated in search results and shares. Keep the three to six words that carry the meaning.
