Rates are ECB daily reference rates, shown with their date: informational mid-market figures, not the rate a bank or card will give you. Conversions run in your browser; no request leaves the page.
How it works
Rates are the European Central Bank's daily reference rates, refreshed into the page at build time (the date is shown next to every result) rather than fetched live, which is why this page can work with zero external requests. Conversions between two non-euro currencies cross through the euro base, exactly how the ECB publishes them.
Frequently asked questions
How fresh are the rates?
The ECB publishes reference rates once per working day around 16:00 central European time, and this site rebuilds with the new figure the same day. Weekends and holidays show Friday's rate, which is also what live services display then.
Why does my bank give me a different rate?
Reference rates are mid-market indicators, not tradable prices. Banks and card networks apply their own spread and fees on top, typically 0.5% to 4%. Use this page to know the fair midpoint and judge the spread you are being charged.
Is anything about my conversion sent anywhere?
No. The rate table is embedded in the page itself, so amounts and currency choices are processed in your browser and no request leaves the page.
