Spain freelance income tax calculator

The every-spring question, answered early: your estimated IRPF for the year against what you already prepaid through withholdings and 130 installments. The balance is your Renta: a bill or a refund.

Your year
€

Before the quota and income tax.

€

The 15% (or 7%) your clients already deposited for you.

€

What you already paid across the four quarters. Zero if you only invoice with withholding.

Business type

Each region legislates half the income tax scale. Leave it unset and the calculator uses the reference scale, the one every published bracket table quotes.

Navarra and the Basque Country run their own income taxes, not a regional half of the Spanish one, so they are not in this list.

Estimate

The formula

Balance = estimated IRPF − (withholdings + 130 installments). IRPF applies the 19-47% reference scale to profit minus the quota, with the 5,550-euro personal minimum. Prepaid too much: refund; too little: you pay the difference.

What this assumes

One activity in estimación directa, the personal minimum only, and no regional or personal deductions. Pick your comunidad to settle with its half of the scale rather than the reference one. Constants verified August 2026 and reviewed each January.

FAQ

Why am I getting a refund?
Because the 15% withholding on the WHOLE invoice usually beats your real IRPF on the PROFIT, especially with high expenses or modest income. It is the classic case of professionals invoicing businesses: Hacienda over-saved for you all year.
Does this replace the official draft?
No. The draft carries your real data (family minimums, your region, regional deductions); this is the structural estimate so the campaign never surprises you. Use it in November, not on June 25th.
When is the Renta filed?
The campaign opens in April and closes June 30. If you owe, you can split the payment (60% on filing, 40% in November) interest-free. Our Spain tax calendar has every date, downloadable.
