Creator earnings

YouTube earnings calculator

YouTube money is views times RPM, and RPM swings 10x by niche: gaming near $2, finance past $15. This keeps every constant in your hands instead of pretending one secret number fits all channels.

Your numbers

Across the channel, from your analytics.

%

Share of views that show ads. 50-80% is typical; Shorts-heavy channels run lower.

$

Revenue per 1,000 monetized views, after YouTube's cut. Your analytics show it. Typical: $1-4 entertainment, $4-8 tech, $10-20 finance.

Estimate

The formula

Revenue = views × monetized share ÷ 1,000 × RPM. RPM is the only number that matters long-term, and it is a niche property more than a talent one.

What this ignores

Everything beyond AdSense: sponsorships (usually the bigger check), memberships, affiliate revenue, and Shorts' separate low-RPM pool. Ads are the floor of creator income, not the ceiling.

FAQ

Why is my RPM so much lower than the ranges I read?
Audience geography and age dominate: US/UK adult viewers with buying intent pay multiples of global teen views. Same content, different audience, 5x RPM difference. Check your geography report before blaming the niche.
How many views do I need to make $1,000 a month from ads?
At a $4 effective RPM on monetized views, roughly 350-500k monthly views. At finance-niche RPMs, a tenth of that. This is why niche selection beats grind for ad-revenue channels.
Do Shorts views count?
They pay from a separate pool at RPMs measured in cents, not dollars. Treat Shorts as a discovery channel that feeds long-form and sponsorships, not as ad revenue.
