Estimate

The formula
Engagement = (avg likes + avg comments) ÷ followers. Bands: under 1% weak, 1-3% typical, 3-6% strong, above 6% exceptional. Smaller accounts naturally run higher.
What this ignores
Saves, shares, and watch time (stronger signals the public numbers hide), platform differences (TikTok runs higher than Instagram), and bought engagement, which sponsors detect faster than you think.
FAQ
- My engagement dropped as I grew. Is something wrong?
- It is the normal curve: passive followers accumulate and the algorithm shows posts to a shrinking share. Sponsors know this; a 2% rate at 500k is a different achievement than 2% at 5k.
- Which posts should I average?
- The last 10-12 standard posts, dropping viral outliers in both directions. Sponsors want the expected case for THEIR post, not your best day.
- How do I raise engagement without gimmicks?
- Reply to comments in the first hour, end posts with a genuine question, and post fewer, better pieces. Engagement bait works once and costs trust; conversations compound.
