The IRS now hands you a signed tax compliance report on demand

Since August 20 the IRS has issued a Tax Compliance Report you can download on demand from the Individual Online Account, alongside transcripts (IR-2026-97). Each file carries an IRS-issued digital certificate, so whoever asked for it can confirm it is genuine and unaltered without calling anyone.

Who this helps: anyone applying for a job, a loan, a government benefit or another service that asks for tax compliance information. If you are self-employed, that list is longer than it is for salaried applicants, because underwriters routinely want IRS-sourced backup rather than your own books.
